Hey Nice tutorial how become most of the words come up as symbols?

When i load up kismet i get a wireless router "BtHomeHub" I was just wondering why does it have a ! next to it? also in the i.p range it displays as 0.0.0.0 is this a problem or is it supposed to be okay? I am using a Atheros Wifi on my laptop. And instead of using ath0 when loading kismet can i use wifi0?

When you say 'open up a new terminal' do you mean Konsole?

I typed airodump-ng ath0 -w /root/bt 1 1
but all i get is "airodump-ng --help" for help"

is there something im doing wrong? the router im trying to connect to a bthub router

Thanks bubuca,  It works.  However,  I do not have to key in the user name and PW.  Is it normal?

In my laptop I have dual boot Vista & Ubuntu.  Can i install bt3 in my hardisk as third OS?
Is yes.  How?

Thanks again.

ok followed link downloaded backtrack 3,
which refuses to boot on the 2 different computers i tried it on with any of the optional boots

downloaded backtrack 2 which boots into kde,
kismet is not where you say it is on the start menu but found it under
  backtrack/ radio network analasys/80211/kismet,
so i run it, shell pops up and dissapears...

then tried to run kismet under shell typed kismet and it displays:

server options: none
client options: none
starting server...
waiting for server to start before starting UI...
Suid priv-dropping disabled. This may not be secure.
No specific sources given to be enabled, all will be enabled.
Enabling channel hopping.
Enabling channel splitting.
FATAL: no packsources were enabled. Make sure that if you use an enablesource line that you specify the correct sources.

then back to the shell prompt line

on both computers its the same, 1 is desktop, 1 is laptop both have wireless card
perhaps you are utilizing a different version of backtrack 2, if so please link to an iso download or mabey you pre-configured kismet or something if so please tell...

One suggestion is that you should use a virtual machine when using back track, that way you don't have to burn the ISO you just use your virtual disk with your virtual machine, i would suggest using a Linux machine.
